Operating since 1970, Aviones Taxi Aereo and Taxi Aereo Centroamericano have an extensive route map covering 50 destinations throughout Costa Rica. Rather than sell tickets by per person, they operate using a charge per minute or hour. This can be a good way to see the country or divide up the cost of travel between numerous persons.
Their fleet consists of 4 aircraft:
- Monomotor 206 (5 passengers)
- Piper Aztec 250 (5 passengers)
- Piper Navajo (7 passengers)
- Twin Otter (18 passengers)
Headquartered at Juan Santamaria International Airport, the charter company has a waiting room with a capacity of 100 persons. They also have a 30 person waiting area in the Tobias Bolaños airport in Pavas. They can also fly to other destinations in Central America, and to North or South America.
They also supply an air ambulance service equipped with a physician on board and a team of first aid specialists to assist the patient to be as comfortable as possible during transport to the hospital.
