Barra Honda National Park

Known for the largest network of caverns explored in Costa Rica, a total of 42, the Barra Honda National Park is one interesting attraction for speleologists and spelunkers. Although 19 caverns have been explored, access to the public is only to 2 caverns, the Terciopelo and La Cuevita. The beauty of these caverns, full of limestone formations, stalactites and stalagmites, make this park a unique experience in Costa Rica.

Apart from the caves, Barra Honda National Park has a Tropical Dry Forest, one of the rarest of it's kind. This place can be explored through a network of well-marked trails. Outside the caves it can be hot and humid so dress appropriately.
