Carate Beach

Located at the southern end next to the Corcovado National Park, Carate keeps a lot of similar conditions from the park. Besides of cooling off on the nice waters of this beach, you can witness turtle nesting, mammals from the regions such monkeys, squirrels and tapirs coming out to the beach and, of course a wonderful variety of marine life common in the area.

As common in the area, there are a few nature lodges and cabins in the small village of Carate to fill the visitor’s needs. Puerto Jiménez, the main town in the area has many options for lodging and food.

How to get there ?
You can fly directly to Carate from San Jose, or drive to Puerto Jimenez and follow the signs to Carate.
When to go?
Weather conditions are quite stable during the year with minor variations on temperature, which is always around 80 Fahrenheit. The best time is the dry season, December to April, but even in the rainy season when it rains hard in the early evenings or at night the conditions are good most of the day.
