Puerto Vargas Beach

This beach is part of Cahuita National Park and is surrounded by thick exuberant vegetation. Swimming here is only recommended for very experienced swimmers. If you prefer to snorkel, be sure to visit the north end of the beach.
Camping is allowed. Public restrooms and showers available.

- How to get there ?
- From San José take highway #32 to Limón. This highway starts on the north part of San José city at Barrio Amón. It is a 3 hours drive to Port Limón, from there, it is about ˝ hour to Puerto Viejo. Follow the signs to Cahuita. Soon after you leave Limon city, you will be driving by the coast enjoying the Caribbean atmosphere. Right after passing Cahuita, follow the signs to Puerto Vargas. Entrance fee to the park is US $7.
- When to go?
- The best time to visit this area is during March-April or September-October. Although you can go any time, hurricanes in the Caribbean may affect the whether pretty bad and cause flooding.
