Puerto Viejo Beach

Puerto Viejo (Old Port) still keeps a small clean harbor where local fishermen dock their boats. This village maintains its old easy going life stile mixed with Afro Caribbean, Indian and foreign cultures.

The northern part of beach in Puerto Viejo is 500 mts of black sand with moderate wave action and swimming areas. Local fishermen dock their boats. The southern part, known as Salsa Brava beach, turns into white sand for a long stretch where surf is definitely recommended. At the end of this beach a beautiful coral reef aquarium is one of the best spots for snorkeling.
