Puntarenas Beach

Along with Caldera Port, Puntarenas is the main port city in the Central Pacific coast. Sitting on a long, narrow peninsula, this port has many tourist attractions. Even though the beach is not the best, many costaricans visit this beach on the weekends. The city is always full of activities related to sand and ocean such us carnivals, concerts at the beach, international water and beach sports competitions and so on.

Another nice attraction is the tourist’s boardwalk (Paseo de los Turistas) along the beach at the end of the peninsula. This area is full of souvenirs stands and kioskos where the specialty is smoothies, milkshakes, Churchills, (large snow cones served in glass cups, mixed with power milk, condensed milk and sirope).

Since Puntarenas is the main fishing port in Costa Rica, several restaurants are specialized in good sea food, also there are many hotels, cabins, etc available for visitors.
