Salinas Bay Beach

The northernmost group of beaches in Costa Rica is in Salinas Bay. In this area you will find beautiful beaches susch as El Jobo beach, La Coyotera, pristine virgin beaches with white sand, surrounded by a beautiful and lush forest.
Isla Bolaños, an oval-shaped rocky mound, is and ecological protected area especially important for the conservation of seabirds.

Due to the strong winds, especially in the dry season, December to April, Salinas Bay is frequently visited by windsurfers and kitesurfers. At Copal beach there are accommodations and equipment rental for practicing these sports. In the bay area there are nice resorts to stay. Also there are cabins and small hotels to fit your budget.

How to get there ?
Bahia Salinas is in Santa Cruz, the northernmost town of Costa Rica, 4 ½ hours from San Jose in highway #1. (One hour from Liberia). From Santa Cruz follow the signs to Puerto Soley and Cuajiniquill for about 15 km; most of the ride is in a dirt road.
When to go?
In this area weather conditions are sunny and hot most of the year. However, the best time to visit is in the dry season: December to April. Wind is very strong in this time of the year.
