Zancudo Beach
-
This 4.5 miles long dark sand beach has enough space for different tastes. For those looking for relaxing, some areas are very good for swimming and small wave action good for boogie board. You can walk on the beach or just rest under the shade of the palm trees. At the southern end of this beach, wave action is stronger.
There are a few nice lodges in the area well equipped for the tourist. However, since the closet town is Golfito, there are many options for accommodations and dinning out according to budget.

- How to get there ?
- This is one of the most remote beaches in Costa Rica. Southwest of San Jose cit, about 250 miles. Take highway #2 all the way Rio Claro and get off to take #14 to Golfito. From here is about 10 miles following the signs to Zancudo.
Also flying is possible from San Jose to Coto 47 or Golfito. Take a taxi from here to Zancudo.
- When to go?
- Weather conditions are quite stable during the year with minor variations on temperature, which is always around 80 Fahrenheit. The best time is the dry season, December to April, but even in the rainy season when it rains hard in the early evenings or at night the conditions are good most of the day.
